Daddi's Trip to China : Suzhou Part 1

daddi went to china in october 2006 for two weeks, for the aliance for healthy cities meeting and conferences. the meeting is in suzhou, about three hours drive from shanghai. suzhou, with population of more than 5 million, is a city famous with canals and gardens. the canals were built many centuries back, where during that time boat is the major transportation for the chinese. that is why, canals are connecting the houses and its neghbouhoods and the towns. as suzhou is developing, the canals have been preserved by the government and become assets for tourism in suzhou.

in suzhou, there are many huge "ancient towns" from several dynasties, many centuries back, which have been converted into a living museum and attracts tourist from various parts of the world. stepping into these ancient towns, we can feel the ancients living environment where the ancestors lifestyle, culture and heritage are preserved and displayed.
